Modcan - Multimode Filter
The Modcan - Multimode Filter is a state-variable filter realised with high-quality components. More raw and edgy at parts, this full-on and edgy, yet still sweet highpass filter sound is hard to find anywhere! The notch features this lovely tonal cancellations, that are also sought after.
Multimode filters are nothing new but the Modcan - Multimode Filter takes its inspiration from some of the earliest examples. Like the ARP 2500, EML 101 modular and EMUs UAF filters before the Modcan Multimode uses discrete OTAs in place of CA3080s or the more recently popular SSM2164. The result is a rawer sound with a lot of resonance.
Modcan's version of the Multimode does not self-oscillate but does get louder as resonance is increased.
It does represent a unique flavour of Euro filter.
